Welcome to Ladies Basketball here at NUIG.

The set up for the club this semester has been changed compared to last semester.

• First of all Freshers training is over as they have already competed in their only competition (which they won out.. see achievements below!).
• Secondly due to lack of funds we have also had to cut the Recreation team as we could not afford a coach. This is being looked into and we're hoping to get this team up and running again for next year.
• The only team still training is the varsity team as they prepare for the intervarsity tournament which will take place in April.

All members are still invited to nights out/club events despite the unfortunate lack of Basketball which ye'll be notified about via email.

We'd also like to encourage members to come out and support the Varsity Team in their home games, details of which will also be sent out via email.

Achievements

A huge congratulations to the Fresher's team that won out the 'A' division Freshers tournament which took place in November this year. The girls beat the University of Limerick in the final to win this competition for the first time in our clubs history. Massive congrats to the NUIG Ladies Varsity team who won the 2012 "B" Intervarsities in UL. The NUIG team beat Trinity College Dublin by 34 points in the final, on a final score line of 68-34. Mike Murray's side showed extreme commitment, team work and skill throughout the course of the weekend. Congratulations is also in order for final MVP Ailish O' Reilly and Leah Cunningham who won All-Stars for their outstanding perfomances all weekend. The girls look forward to competing in the "A" division next season, where they most definitely have the potential to reach another final.
