Hi Folks,
We will start our weekly tournaments next week (Monday 24th). These tournaments will be held in the Hub which is located in Aras Na Macleinn beside the College Bar.
This year the intervarsity pool teams will be picked from a weekly tournament which will be held on each Monday. There will be approx 6-7 of these tournaments and ranking points will be given depending on what
stage of the tournament you get knocked out in. An individuals best 5 results will then be taken and the top 10 players will qualify for the college intervaristies in the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk in Febrary 2013.
These tournaments are free to enter and are played on a knockout basis. As there is a large entry expected this coming Monday the early rounds may be a 1 frame knockout with the later stages being slightly longer.
A tournament will also be held on each Tuesday. This is not a tournament used as qualification for the Intervarsity teams and instead involves cash prizes. Entry will be 5 euro and all money will be given
out in prize-money. Handicaps will be assigned to previous intervarsity players. Both of these tournaments begin at 6pm sharp. Please note these tournamnts may alternate or vary in format each week so check your emails to avoid confusion.

This year we sent 3 teams to the pool intervarsities in February. Our B and C teams were unlucky not to get out of their groups but our A team did well, losing out in the semi final to UCD. The team consisted of Neil Hennelly, Stephen Dempsey, Stephen O'Sullivan, Seamus Keane and Liam Cannon. The first 4 players mentioned also did very well in the singles, all getting to the last 16.
Last Friday (25th March) the same 5 players went to Trinity to compete in the All Ireland pool Finals. We beat DCU B in the 1/4 fnals, then in a great game beat NCI 11-8 in the semi final, after trailing 8-5. We then pulled out an amazing performance to beat DCU A 11-4 in the final to become All Ireland Champions. Stephen Dempsey was also picked to represent Ireland in the Home Nations taking place in Belfast on the 15/16th of April. Neil Hennelly and Seamus Keane both got a trial for the team (which was a round robin competition) but narrowly missed out as 3 players were chosen, Neil came 4th and Seamus was 5th.
Overall it was a very successful year for the club and with our numbers higher than ever before there are very positive signs for
There will be weekly social tournaments every Monday and Tuesday evening at 6p.m in the HUBb(beside the College Bar). All levels of players are welcome to come along and play.
