Responsibilities

The Clubs Captain is responsible for:

• Representing the views of clubs to the University and to the Executive Committee
• Providing assistance to clubs in their day to day activities
• Ensuring the Executive Committee is well informed of club events and issues
• Working with the Director of Sport and the Development and participation officer to the ensure provision of resources to clubs
• Organise and Chair the clubs forum
• Ensure clubs are made aware of all Union policy and events
• Provides information on club rights within the University

The Clubs Captain is elected the captains of the University clubs in early March. The Union recognizes the Clubs Captain as the chief spokesperson of the clubs

• Past campaigns have included:
• The establishment of the Sports Awards to honour the work of clubs on campus
• Lobbying to have the University sports strategy adopted and funded
• Working with the University to ensure club access to the new sports centre

Background

Hi I am your Clubs Officer for 2012/13. I am a 3rd year Civil Engineering student. I have been involved in clubs since first year and I am a former captain of the Kayak Club and a founding member of the Mountain Bike Club. I look forward to the challenge that this role will bring. My main aim is to get as many students as possible into sport. With over 50 sports club there is a club for everyone. You will be made welcome into every club even if you've never played that sport before

Haigh a chairde, is mise Captaen na gClubanna don bhliain 2012/13. Is mac léinn san innealtóireacht shibhialta mé agus táim i mo 3ú bliain. Bhí mé páirteach i gclubanna as mo chéad bhliain amach. Is iar-chaptaen an Chlub Cadhcála mé agus ball bunaidh den Chlub Rothaíochta Sléibhe. Táim ag tnúth go mór leis an dúshlán a chuirfidh an post seo fúm. Tá sé mar aidhm agam an líon is mó mac léinn agus is féidir a mhealladh chuig spóirt. Tá 50 club spóirt ann in OÉ Gaillimh, rud a chiallaíonn go bhfuil club éigin ann do gach cineál duine.
